The official update installs Microsoft certified "Conexant ISST Audio". I did check and my laptop as suggested and it was on the list of affected PCs, which is why I updated the audio driver in the first place.

So in Device Manager the device is now called "Conexant SmartAudio HD" instead of "Conexant ISST Audio" as I believe it was called when the laptop was new.
